It is supposed to mirror things across devices. However, yes, if you delete things from Dropbox it deletes from everywhere - that is what it is supposed to do. phones etc.) and so I would say you can use Dropbox for backups on that - I do. Photos is slightly different in that we usually have them on multiple places (e.g. I'm not sure I 'get' what Dropbox is for now at all - is it just a way of allowing you to have certain files / photos on (for example) an iPhone and a Macbook (if thats your devices) ? Via either the web interface or using Selective Sync like I said above. If i unsynch the account on my macbook and only use it via the web interface, i assume that means i can still access all that data without using up my hard drive space. In saying that as long as the files dont change, and you do pay your $99 they will stay there forever, so lets say you dont realise its an issue and discover it on day 31 - that file is now lost. that change will replicate across ALL of your linked devices and you can only roll back the file on Dropbox for 30 days unless you pay for Extended Recovery. Lets say you upload a file/folder/whatever and it gets a virus/corrupted etc. You could unsync folders already uploaded from your machine via to free up some space on your machine to then upload more.Ĭan you explain about the changed data only being available for 30 days? I can't get the data up to dropbox because i don't have enough hard disk space free on the macbook
